I have an application that needs near silent operation. When experimenting with BLDC and FOC control, the cogging torque caused undesirable noise. I could swap to a coreless designs, but the motor efficiency drops significantly. I was hoping that switching to a small induction motor would eliminate the noise. However, I now realize that Induction motors have torque ripple, which also can add audible vibration into the shaft and support structure.
I have read that induction motor torque ripple reduction strategies have been published in the scientific literature. Have any of these schemes been implemented in controllers such as the Solo Motor’s ?
