Hello,

I had a question about the SOLO PICO. I read Four Quadrant Regenerative operation in the datasheet operation however, I don't see the brake resistor in the document found with the UNO device. Is the PICO capable of controlling the speed/torque of the motor when the load torque applied is in the same or opposite direction of the shaft rotation?

Thank you

Hi @tvick,

PICO works in the exact same way as UNO (4-quadrant), but during Brakings, if harshly done and considerable energy is available, the BUS voltage will rise and it's the user's responsibility to dissipate the extra energy using external brakings, in most systems this can be avoided by having slower Deceleration, but yes, PICO doesn't have that circuitry on board, but I would say for many applications this is not a big deal especially if you have a battery that can absorb the extra energy.

let me know if you have other questions.

Hello @milad,

Thank you for your response,

Ok I see, my application will require the motor to be operated in braking while controlling the speed based on the applied load. We will be using a power supply, not a battery. From what I understand if I want to accomplish this without any external circuitry I will have to use the UNO product.

I apologize if I am asking the same question, I just want to confirm before moving ahead with either product.

Thank you

Hi @tvick,

Yes, you'll need to use SOLO UNO, and also keep the Braking Chopper Circuitry active and in line, My recommendation is to tune the chopper for around 1V above your Supply voltage to get activated, the guides are available in the usermanual of UNO.
