Hi,

Can I use the Solo motor controller for position control with a BLDC motor with Hall Sensors?  I need to periodically turn my rotor 360 deg (1 rev), either CW or CCW.  Speed approximately 300 RPM.

Thanks,

Joe

Hello @joe-keenan,

Yes you can, however, be aware that the Position controlling resolution in Hall mode is relatively low ( depending on how many poles your motor has), the resolution in Hall mode is : 3 x Motor number poles.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

@milad Thank you Milad.  My motor has 16 poles, so what is the +/- degree resolution?

Thanks,

Joe

My motor has 16 poles, so what is the +/- degree resolution?

so basically it will be around 7.5 degrees (360 / (3 x 16) ), however usually there are some errors around 2-4 pulses, so most probably by tuning well the Speed and Position Controller gains you can achieve to +/- 15 to +/-22 degrees, of course, if you can mount an Incremental encoder the resolution will be far higher.

Regards
Milad
