Hi,

I saw that you recently added a command to read the firmware version. Can you please add one to read the hardware version? Or is it not possible to upgrade the firmware, therefore a hardware version would be unnecessary?

Best,

Illylonka

Hi,

The firmware is absolutely upgradeable and the latest version is Beta_V004, for the hardware, to be honest, we don't see any major change in it and all the hardware we are selling is following the same design. In the very near future, we are going to introduce other SOLO models, but they will all have the exact same interface as the current SOLO, this is our policy and we will stick to it. So, anyone who develops software or library for SOLO, they should be able to work with all the models of SOLO now and period.

Milad

@staff That is a noble intention, but I doubt you will be able to stick to it if SOLO gets really successful ;D

Anyhow, I will then leave the responsibility to you 😉

Hi @illylonka

Regarding adding the Hardware version, it's not a big deal for us, and for sure it's helpful, so we will add it in our next F.W release, but normally if we change the hardware so much that one firmware can't be adapted to the older versions, then I think that will be either a new product or it will receive a different Firmware eventually, but thanks for the suggestion, and it will be added.

Regards
Milad

@milad I was acutually thinking about user software (Arduino / Desktop PC / etc.), that would need to read the hardware version. Sure, the firmware may handle all that stuff internally, but the user may want to know what their SOLO controller is exactly capable of. Image you find an old device in a friend's basement: It would be good to know the hardware version even if you do not have the possibility to read sth. of the PCB (e.g. the device is installed into an application).

And sometimes, one would switch to a new SOLO board but wants to keep support for the old hardware versions. It would be important for the user device to read the SOLO device's hardware version.

This can be rather minor changes, like better MOSFETs or sth. like that...
